About Pork Hill Farm
We started Pork Hill Farm in 2009 on an acre of land behind the Ossipee Mountain Grange Hall. The farm now encompasses five acres of Certified Organic vegetables, flowers and herbs.
Why we farm
We believe that growing local food directly impacts the health and vitality of our community, environment, and economy. Our goal is offer high quality organic produce to our community that is produced in an ecologically sound manner.
Our farming approach
We are a Certified Organic farm. We do not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers on our crops or anywhere on the farm. We buy organic & heirloom seeds and raise our own seedlings using a compost based potting soil.
We use compost, manure, and cover crops for soil building and fertility. We use organic and naturally derived fertilizers. We make our own compost on the farm and get manure from neighboring farms. We use cover crops and mulches to conserve our soil, build fertility, and provide wildlife and pollinator habitat. We plant and maintain pollinator habitat on the farm.
How we got our name
We chose the name Pork Hill Farm because of our location on Pork Hill Road. We do not raise pigs, but we are happy to refer you to a local farmer who does.
The Farmers
Katie Doyle Smith and Paul Swegel have been farming together to create Pork Hill Farm since 2009. We couldn't do this work without the wonderful people who’ve worked with us seasonally over the years. Please contact us if you are interested in working with us in 2025.
